Open Studies - Study at your own pace.

Open Studies are mainly available for those who already live in Finland. Open Studies are not full-time and do not lead to a qualification – it is therefore not possible to get a long-term student residence permit based on Open Studies.

Open Studies are offered in daytime, evenings, weekends and on the web at most higher education institutions all across Finland.

Studies can be carried out as contact teaching, blended teaching or e-teaching . Click here to read more.

There is not any separate application period for open studies. You can apply directly to Universities and Polytechnics website. Open Studies do not lead to a qualification, but you can do studies from both lower and higher-level university and university of applied sciences (UAS) study modules. You get credits from open studies which can contribute towards a degree if you continue to degree studies later in the same higher education institution. If you continue to degree studies in another higher education institution, check with them if your studies can compensate parts of your future studies.
